Japan's TDK recently started commercial production of a new generation of SmFeN exchange-coupled magnets (isotropic compression-molded bonded magnets) after NdFeB. The company launched a sample of the product under the trademark "Nano REC" in July 1998 and began mass production at the Narita Plant in Chiba Prefecture. Compared with the current mainstream product of rare earth bonded magnets, NdFeB, the biggest feature of SmFeN is its excellent corrosion resistance.
